"The Fear Of Joy"
By Logan Urfer
I like his poem because it creates a lot of imagery and includes a lot of repetition and several metaphors but still sticks to a steady flow. In the first seven lines he says, "I have seen the beautiful vibrant colors, pulsing The smell of the flowers, blowing in the wind The wind, pushing against me The serene silence Where only humanity can change The emotions of nature." I like these lines because they create lot's of imagery, and they real set the feeling of joy that he is trying to portray. I think that it's interesting how he kind of personifies nature by saying, "where only humanity can change the emotions of nature." I also notist that he put some alliteration in when he says "The serene silence". In the next stanza it says, "I send my soul to the fish in the sea to communicate, the thoughts of life For that we are the only ones who can help ourselves Stay away from those evil thoughts For I will never be brought upon The feelings of hatred." I think that this stanza creates imagery and also describes how joy can not be demolished and that it sort of stands strong. In this stanza their is also some alliteration with, "I send my soul to the fish in the sea." The last stanza is my favorite, it says, "I say I come to be, with the afterlife of humanity As they will never forget The sins that they have committed For what they think is the better, for their own personal greed Do they really understand, what we really need?" I like this last stanza because it sort of ties the loose ends together by referring to joy as sticking with us by being in heaven, and how it's simple and you don't really need much to feel joy.
Great response. Remember, you need to respond to two student's poems for #4
